Eminem (born Marshall Bruce Mathers III) is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. His major breakthrough occurred in 1999, when he released the Dr. Dre-produced album, The Slim Shady LP. A year later, he released The Marshall Mathers LP, delivering hits including Stan (featuring Dido) and The Real Slim Shady. The Eminem Show spawned more successful singles such as Without Me and Cleanin' Out My Closet. In 2002, he starred in 8 Mile alongside Brittany Murphy, and released the song Lose Yourself for the film soundtrack. The song won two Grammy Awards and the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
He has won more than 13 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy for Best Rap Album four times, and in 2022 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The rapper was also a member of Detroit-based hip-hop collective D12 and has collaborated with artists including Rihanna, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and Alicia Keys. Additionally, he has appeared in documentaries including How Music Got Free and The Defiant Ones.
