American singer, songwriter, and musician

H.E.R., born Gabriella Wilson, is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Emerging in 2016 with her debut EP H.E.R. Volume 1, Wilson initially concealed her identity in the hopes that the music would speak for itself. Wilson gradually built a following and, in 2018, was named to Apple Music’s Up Next program for rising artists.

H.E.R. gained widespread acclaim for her musicality, earning multiple Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Album for H.E.R. in 2019 and Song of the Year for I Can’t Breathe in 2021. In addition to her Grammy success, Wilson won an Academy Award for Best Original Song with Fight for You from 2021’s Judas and the Black Messiah. Her debut studio album Back of My Mind was also released in 2021 and boasted collaborations with YG, Lil Baby, and Ty Dolla $ign. She was also named Apple Music’s Songwriter of the Year.
Among her most popular songs are Could've Been, Damage, and Best Part with Daniel Caesar. She has appeared in the special At Home With Apple Music: A Black Music Month Celebration, and the films Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration in 2022 and 2023’s The Color Purple.
