The Weeknd is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer. Born Abel Tesfaye, he began his career offering music anonymously before releasing studio albums under his moniker. After releasing the trilogy of underground mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence, he broke through to the mainstream with his 2015 album Beauty Behind the Madness, which won the Grammy Award for Best Progressive R&B Album in 2016 and includes the No. 1’s Can't Feel My Face and The Hills, as well as the Academy Award-nominated song Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey).
Besides his 2020 smash Blinding Lights off his chart-topping album fourth studio album After Hours, he has amassed more than seven No. 1 hits, including the Ariana Grande collabs Save Your Tears and Die for You. In 2021, he was named Artist of the Year by Apple Music and headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
On screen, The Weeknd has appeared in the concert doc The Weeknd: Live at SoFi Stadium, the film Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler, and the series The Idol with Lily-Rose Depp. He also presented the Apple Music show Memento Mori.
