JAY-Z is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur, born Shawn Carter. His first album, 1996's Reasonable Doubt, featured collaborations with Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G., and Foxy Brown. Hit after hit album followed in the late 1990s/early 2000s—among them The Dynasty: Roc La Familia and The Blueprint, the latter honored at No. 13 on Apple Music’s 100 Best Albums list—with singles including Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem), I Just Wanna Love U (Give it 2 Me), and Girls, Girls, Girls.
In 2003, JAY-Z released two albums: Blueprint 2.1 which featured a duet with Beyoncé, 03 Bonnie and Clyde; and The Black Album, which included the hit 99 Problems. 2009's The Blueprint 3 saw collaborations with Rihanna on Run this Town and the double Grammy-winning Empire State of Mind featuring Alicia Keys.
JAY-Z also featured on Rihanna's Umbrella, Linkin Park's Numb/Encore, and Pharrell Williams' Frontin'. Beyoncé's Drunk in Love, which featured JAY-Z, won Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song in 2015. JAY-Z has appeared in the films Black Is King with Beyoncé, State Property, and the series The Murder Inc Story.
