George Michael was a British singer-songwriter. He started out as one half of 1980s pop duo Wham! before kicking off his solo career with 1984's Careless Whisper, co-written by bandmate Andrew Ridgeley. Michael released his debut solo album Faith in 1987, which included the singles I Want Your Sex and Father Figure, and won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1989. He followed this up with Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1 — featuring Freedom! '90 and Praying for Time — in 1990 and Older in 1996. His final studio album, Patience, was released in 2004.

During his career, Michael duetted with Aretha Franklin, Elton John, and Mary J. Blige. Michael appeared in the documentaries George Michael: A Different StoryI'd Know Him a Mile Off, and Live in London. His songs inspired the movie Last Christmas. He passed away in 2016.
