Jack Albertson was an American actor, dancer, and singer. He appeared in films such as Miracle on 34th Street, Nightfall, The Subject Was Roses for which he received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory where he played Grandpa Joe, and The Poseidon Adventure. Albertson transitioned to television, starring in the series Chico and the Man from 1974 to 1978. For this role, he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 1976. He passed away in 1981.
