British rock band
Coldplay is a British rock band, formed in 1997 after the members met while studying at university. They released their debut album Parachutes in 2000, featuring popular singles such as Yellow and Shiver, followed by 2002's A Rush of Blood to the Head, with both albums winning the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. The band have since released hit albums including X&Y, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, Mylo Xyloto, and Moon Music, all of which topped the UK and US charts. Coldplay's additional Grammy Awards include Record of the Year for the 2004 single Clocks and Song of the Year for 2009's Viva la Vida.
Coldplay donate a percentage of their profits to charities and release music to raise awareness for numerous causes. In 2018, they released the Global Citizen EP 1 under the pseudonym Los Unidades. Proceeds from the EP, which featured artists including Pharrell Williams and David Guetta, were donated to Global Citizen.
The band has released numerous live concert films and documentaries such as Coldplay: Live 2003, Coldplay: Live In Sao Paulo, and Coldplay - Live 2012.
