Slipknot
American heavy metal band
Slipknot is an American heavy metal band known as much for their distinctive masks and costumes as their dark, aggressive music. They released their self-titled debut album Slipknot in 1999, followed by Iowa in 2001 and Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses in 2004, cementing their reputation as one of the most influential, dynamic, and theatrical acts in heavy music. Slipknot's We Are Not Your Kind was released in 2019 and debuted at number one in over 10 countries.
The band's lineup has fluctuated throughout its career, with eight or nine members at any time; key members have included longtime lead vocalist Corey Taylor, who also performs as Stone Sour, and co-founder Shawn Crahan, who is known to fans as Clown. Slipknot's most popular songs include Duality, The Devil In I, and Psychosocial. They are the subject of the documentaries Slipknot: Day of the Gusano and Slipknot Unmasked: All Out Life.
