Oasis

British rock band

Oasis is a British rock band. Founded in Burnage, Manchester in 1991, they released their debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994, catapulting them straight to the forefront of the Britpop movement. A year later, their follow-up (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? gave Oasis their global breakthrough, topping the charts in over 10 countries and reaching No. 4 in the US.

They released subsequent albums Be Here Now (1997), Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000), Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don’t Believe the Truth (2005), and Dig Out Your Soul (2008) before going on hiatus following a rift between singer Liam Gallagher and his songwriter-guitarist brother Noel Gallagher. Liam quickly formed Beady Eye with Oasis bandmates Andy Bell, Gem Archer, and Chris Sharrock, while Noel pursued a solo career as Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Fifteen years later, in 2024, the Gallagher brothers announced an Oasis reunion for a series of gigs the following summer. The band’s most popular songs include Supersonic, Live Forever, Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova, and Stop Crying Your Heart Out. They’ve released two live albums, Familiar to Millions (2000) and Knebworth 1996 (2021), the latter capturing their historic two-night stand at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire, playing to 125,000 each night, which, at that point, was the UK’s largest outdoor gig. Oasis have also appeared in documentaries including Supersonic, Lord Don’t Slow Me Down, and Oasis… There and Then, as well as the concert films Oasis: Live from Manchester and Oasis Knebworth 1996.
