Janet Jackson is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and dancer. Born in 1966 as the youngest member of the famous Jackson family, she first gained recognition as an actress in TV shows like Good Times and Fame. Her music career skyrocketed with the release her third album, 1986’s Control, which yielded hits like The Pleasure Principle, When I Think of You, and Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun). The project would go on to be named one of Apple Music's 100 Best Albums of all time.


Jackson followed Control with the socially-charged Rhythm Nation 1814 in 1989. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, she dominated the charts with albums like janet.The Velvet Rope, and All for You, pushing the boundaries of pop and R&B while exploring themes of love, sexuality, and self-expression. Jackson would also become renown for her intricate choreography and groundbreaking music videos.
