The Beatles are a legendary British band hailing from Liverpool, England. Formed in 1960 and later known as the Fab Four of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, they became the biggest-selling artists of all time with 20 U.S. No. 1 hits before breaking up a decade later. But the statistics and chart records don't fully explain the influence of The Beatles, whose evolution from bubblegum pop band in matching suits on classic albums such as Please Please Me, A Hard Day’s Night, and Help! to pioneers radically pushing the boundaries of songwriting and production influenced popular culture for generations.

Their string of groundbreaking albums in the 1960s included Rubber Soul, The Beatles (The White Album), Revolver, and Abbey Road, with the latter two ranked at No. 21 and No. 3 on Apple Music's 100 Best Albums, respectively. Among their most iconic songs are I Want to Hold Your Hand, Can’t Buy Me Love, She Loves You, Yesterday, In My Life, Here Comes the Sun, Come Together, and Hey Jude. The Beatles won eight Grammy Awards, including one for Best Rock Performance in 2025 for their final track Now and Then, and an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score for Let It Be in 1971. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, with each member also individually inducted between 1994 and 2015.

The Beatles appeared as fictionalized versions of themselves in the films A Hard Day's Night, Help!, Magical Mystery Tour, and the animated Yellow Submarine. Let It Be documented their final performance in 1970 on a London rooftop, while footage from recording their final album was assembled into 2021's documentary series Get Back, directed by Peter Jackson. Other documentaries include The Beatles at Shea Stadium, The Beatles Anthology, and It Was Twenty Years Ago Today, about the making of 1967's Grammy-winning Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. There have also been numerous biopics or dramatizations of The Beatles in film, including 1979’s The Birth of the Beatles and 1994’s Backbeat.
