Whoopi Goldberg is an American actor, comedian, author, and television personality. She became the first Black woman to be an EGOT recipient (a winner of an Emmy, Grammy, Academy, and Tony Award), starting with a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album for the recording of her Broadway show Whoopi Goldberg: Direct from Broadway.
Soon after, she would star in The Color Purple, followed by notable roles in films such as Ghost and the Sister Act franchise. She also voiced characters for The Lion King and Toy Story 3.
On television, she appeared in the series Star Trek: The Next Generation and The Stand. Goldberg produced the musical Thoroughly Modern Mille, the show Strut, and films including Till. She has also been a host on the daytime talk show The View.
